Camping cooking gear
A friend of mine used to tell me that she loves camping as long as she can enjoy the air condition and use a microwave. Well, I guess that for some people, it explains why camping requires the use of a luxurious RV. The problem is that not everyone likes to enjoy or can afford to enjoy this type of camping. What if you prefer to set up a tent or camp in the wilderness? There will not always be electricity and cable available everywhere you go.
The fact is that camping and cooking can be enjoyable with the use of all that luxury that you can enjoy in the city. After all, aren't you wishing to live in harmony with nature when you go on a camping trip?
I know that many people are concerned about forgetting something important when going on a camping trip. Well, let's check all that you need to meet your cooking needs while camping.
First things first! There is no cooking without a camping stove unless you intend to cook over a campfire. In which case, you need to bring waterproof matches or a flint as well as a grill and a brush to scrub it clean afterward. You should be aware that while it is a nice way to cook, it is not as fast and does not always cook evenly your meat.
Personally, I recommend a propane portable camping stove. From experience, it cooks fast, evenly and the surface is large enough to cook at two things at once. It used a small propane tank which is good for a while. No need to find wood and start a fire to get it going. The heat is strong and you can protect the flame of the element from the wind with the folding sides of the camping stove.
It does not take much room, is light and has a handle to carry it easily. It is easy to set up and you can use it anywhere, as long as you have a surface to put it on. Also, there are less chances of burns as your fingers do not need to be close to the element as they would be from inflamed wood. Rain or shine, it will work from the first try.
As for the camping cookware, it is often easily stackable as the handles can either be removable or foldable. They are resistant and usually rust resistant. There are usually various sizes so you can use more than one at a time.
Outdoor cookware is usually metal based and protected by a special coat of paint which is also rust resistant. It is easy to clean, keeps your food warm and usually is unbreakable. While some people will use plastic, I do not recommend it as it can break easily. Resistant plastic can be used for utensils and other cooking accessories for camping such as utensils.
Other useful camping gear that can be useful when camping outdoors are a foldable camping table if camping in the wilderness, a propane lantern and a cooler filled with ice or ice packs to keep your food fresh.
An important item to have nearby at all times is your first aid kit as any chef can burn himself, experienced or not. Also keep in mind that a well hydrated person will enjoy the benefits of a camping trip a lot better than a thirsty soul so do not forget to bring a supply of water at all times.
Now that you have all the necessary camping cooking gear with you, you can cook, sit back and relax and enjoy a delicious home cooked meal featuring your catch of the day while watching a beautiful sunset over the lake. Hmmm!!! What could be better than that?
